This is not what I had originally intended to write about for this Anglophile Friday post, but I could not look at this photo after uploading it from my camera card without seeing such a striking analogy of the believer's life in Christ. How much do we truly reflect his character? Is his spirit evident to others, or would people be shocked to hear that we call ourselves Christ followers? Something to think about. Well, something for me to think about, anyway.

I know that the spires of the churches were to point to heaven and remind men that God was the greatest need of life. I read a book by Rumer Godden ( I believe it was In this House of Brede) where she notes that when skyscrapers climbed past the church spires, life began to change. I had never thought about that Judy but it does strike a chord of man thinking he no longer needs God in this day and time. Thanks for posting your Friday photos. I so enjoy them...and that candy store, Lollies and Licorice. Cute name!!

Very thought-provoking words. I am glad you wrote them and I do think that there are way too many times I do not reflect that I follow Christ...or am trying to. I will keep your photo in my mind and ask myself exactly what am I reflecting in my words and actions. Thanks for the photos and something to really think about.

The college was neat to see. At first I thought it was a church and then I realize that it was a college with a chapel attached to it. Beautiful set of structures.

As I am looking at your pictures, I am wearing my worn and tattered Oxford University sweatshirt. I cannot believe that it has held together so long. Beautiful building...
Such lovely photos to reflect what we should ask ourselves every day. This has been on my heart and mind alot lately...the early church, and revivals here and there have been so full of the power and anointing of God / wouldn't it be wonderful if this was a daily thing in our lives and how to make that happen.
I've had some wonderful spiritual experiences over time but not enough to overflow to others...I need to clear the channel is the only way that I can think of it? There's too much dross / like a dam built up in a stream or something :(

I love that first photo. We are reading the New Testament as a church with out chapters or verses...its been excellent. I'm always stunned to see a passage I memorized in the middle of a letter...I forget more context than I think. More of Him, less of me... Thanks!
Ed Young of Fellowship Church in Grapevine Texas was where I first heard the term 'Christ Followers.' I love the saying I heard long ago - "If I am ever accused of being a Christian, I hope there will be enough evidence to convict me!'
I was there just yesterday - makes my heart sing every time I go to Cambridge and see that beautiful architecture....and I got to see Stephen Hawking also....plus the stage show of Hairspray - yesterday was a FAB day!!!
I am going there later in the year to re-live some past memories. I love the sweet shop - perfect for the students! xx

I love all the spires and the reflections are a great touch
You know I have been to Cambridge a few times with work having to fix or intall equipment but have never had the tim eto look round the place. Hopefully when I retire though it it is like Oxford I mightgive it a miss.
Wonderful reflection and thoughts. The only time I've been to Cambridge was when I stopped off on the way to North East London for a residential weekend. It was a long walk to photograph Kings College Chapel from the other side.
