1. Do you try to set rules for yourself about how you use your time? Explain.

Yes, I have to set rules or I end up sitting too long at the computer. The toll that sitting takes on one's back and hips is why I went to blogging only one day a week. I'll admit that I used to be better about making and following rules.

2. Monday was National Lighthouse Day. Have you ever visited a lighthouse? If not, do you have any desire to see one up close? Of the 10 Most Beautiful that made this list which would you most like to see in person-

I've seen a few lighthouses in my time, and they were on Lake Superior. They're beautiful. I like them on the lake, on my dishes, and on postage stamps.

Lindau Lighthouse (Germany), Fanad Lighthouse (Ireland), Portland Head Light (Maine), Yaquina Bay Light (Oregon) The St. Augustine Light (Florida), Peggys Point Lighthouse (Canada), Start Point Lighthouse (England), Tower of Hercules (Spain), Bass Harbor Head Station (Maine), and White Shoal Light (Michigan)

When you've been away, what's your 'lighthouse' telling you you're on the right road home?

New Scandinavia Lutheran Church. It's less than two miles from our home, but it always is a comforting sight when I've been on a long road trip, like the fifteen miles to buy groceries in Rice Lake.

3. What have you unintentionally stopped doing? Is this something you need to pick back up and begin again, or is it something you need to let go of for now (or even permanently)?

I stopped gardening, but that was intentional, although I hope to be back into gardening in a small way next spring. I can't think of anything that I've stopped unintentionally. Oh wait. I know. I unintentionally stop watching many movies if I lie down on the couch in the evening. I watched one of the newest Vera episodes in three installments.
Lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer

4. We've had a full week of August. Share a GRAND moment from your month so far.

The photos in this post sum it up. It was a grand birthday/family reunion weekend with lots of GRANDS. I always love it and it always takes me a couple days to recover.
 Games in the front yard

5. Tell us one song you love with the word 'baby' in the title.

Unfortunately, the first thing that popped into my head was 'Baby Love' by Diana Ross and the Supremes. And now that will most likely be stuck in my head until another earworm takes its place. 'I've Got You, Babe' by Sonny & Cher just made its way onto my radar screen.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.
Mr. C. and I went to the movies to see Dunkirk. It was a great disappointment to both of us. After watching it, I wondered who had been their target audience when they decided to make the film. They put lots of loud, redundant air fight action in for the teens, the theme of Dunkirk in for us oldies, and I'm wondering what kind of paycheck Kenneth Branagh got for his very few lines, for looking serious, concerned, and wistful. Mark Rylance had a few more lines, but to be honest, 'The White Feather' episode of Foyle's War or even 'Mrs. Miniver' was better! Or better yet, a documentary. And at the end, where the kid read Churchill's speech from the newspaper, I expected his voice to fade out and be replaced with Churchill's. After all, we know that voice - at least some of us, and I was ready to hear it. I would give Dunkirk TWO STARS (out of 5). One star because of Mark Rylance, and one star because the popcorn was pretty good.

What a GRAND birthday/family reunion weekend!! I am curious, what's happening 8/21/17... Be there... on your son's shirt?? Love. love. love. seeing families being families! Yours is amazing! Judy, the view from your front porch is so beautiful and peaceful. I did have one random thought about the thing I may have "unintentionally" stopped doing... being thinner! Ha! Hope you get rested, because I KNOW how wonderful and how TIRING these weekends can be! ;) blessings ~ tanna

What a GRAND time Y'all had! I love the pictures and my favorite is the best catch of the day and the swing. Oh, and the kids in the yard and....Ok, I liked them all. LOL Did the kitties enjoy the commotion? That's a movie that would not spark my interest. I don't do war movies. I've never liked them with 3 exceptions. Joyce does have a cutie, doesn't she? Have a wonderful day!

Love seeing pictures of your sweet grands!! I love your comment about the church. I always feel that way when we drive across the causeway into Decatur after being away. I think my BP goes down about ten points. I wanted to see Dunkirk but yours is not the only bad review I have seen. I loved Mrs MIniver...when she slaps that German soldier, I want to stand up and applaud. Also the line from the young son,"They Almost got us this time." Such a great movie. And Foyle's War is one of our favorite British program.

I am drawing a blank of answers to all these questions, but I do love the dogs and the cats and the grandkid pics and your beautiful view and the only answer I have is to number 1... time is of the essence to Bob and I and we are seriously regimented by the clock. we do the same thing at the same time every day...

Judy, I love seeing all the grandkids. I told my husband about your new swing and how the grands said , "go get grandpa" for high ride . I can't help it, I laugh thinking about that and it makes me smile afterwards. When I come down roads to Tipton, I love seeing our courthouse clock tower..probably our taller feature in our small town. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Oh what a joy it was to see that view from your front porch! I would never get ANYTHING done except look at it all day long! And even more joyful for you with all of your grands scattered all over it! Your daughter looks so much like you! As always, I enjoyed each and every answer! Enjoy the rest of your week!

Yes, more boating time too! You sure have a great family and it's wonderful how you all spend time together! Exercise is good too, don't sit too long is very important. Take good care.

I have never heard of the movie Dunkirk. I think I am glad. I just watched two movies ab out Churchill that were loosely based on his books The Gathering Storm and Into the Storm. I came away with a different point of view of Churchill.
You family time looks like so much fun. Lively. Exciting. Loving.

I love your photos of your home and your grandchildren. Why makes so many rules any more - right? I love the view out of your home. I love that your family gets together regularly - I think that is awesome. Sandie

Hi Judy,
I thought Dunkirk was well done. LOL ... I liked how there was not a lot of conversation and the music made the movie. I also liked the part when the German plane was coming in to shoot Mark Rylance boat, he was calm and directed his son to steer the boat.
The courage and love from the civilians made my heart soar. I also liked the lady with heels on the one boat entering the Mole.

I think your right on about the ending, it would have been great to hear Winston!!

What I did find sad, was that most people did not know what Dunkirk was. No idea, had never learned about it in school.

LOVE, LOVE the photos with your post today.

We do not go to movies! For years now!

They are made by "Hollywood Types."

"Hollywood Types" have an agenda.

Easy to spot the Very Liberal Agenda, but...

I do not pay money, to be harped at, by Very Liberal Hollywood Types.

If I really want to see some film, I get it out of our library system, and fast-forward through the Agenda Preaching parts.

I figure, it was already purchased by the library system (using my tax $$$ of course!). But I am not going into a theater and plunking down money, and thus, personally VOTING for it, with my $$$$.

But, hardly anything, put our for the big screen, interests us anymore.

Just sayin'....

You only blog ONCE a WEEK?!?

Hmmmmmmmm....

I went to your IG. And see, that you are very active there, though.

I also have an IG. Do not post daily there. Follow only 20 people. So I really read/comment on them. And it is relaxed. And I enjoy it, thus.

But I BLOG about daily. It is my chosen Home, in social media.

To each their own, of course. To each their own.

Enjoy...!!!

I enjoyed seeing all your photos. I forgot to add lighthouse dinnerware set to my answer about lighthouses.

I wanted to see Dunkirk, but now I'm not so sure. I do love going to the movies.

It sure looks like you've made the best of the nice summer weather with your family! Lots of family fun! And I appreciate your review on the movie...we'll probably rent it when it comes out in DVD. It only costs $1 so it's a good way to see new movies. Although I tried to watch La La Land last weekend and didn't even make it halfway. Enjoy your day!

I too like that idea of the little church being your lighthouse on the way home. What a wonderful weekend you had! I'm sure it's become a wonderful tradition and highlight for the year of all your kids and you. Now lovely memories to fill your mind as you recover!

Everything about this post looks grand to me. I think it would be wonderful to live in such beautiful surroundings and I like that that church is such a lovely lighthouse to you. We saw Dunkirk yesterday. It was hard to watch and after reading your thoughts about it, I have to agree. I loved Mrs. Miniver and we recently saw the movie Churchill about the landing at Normandy. It was good. I always get chills when I hear his voice.

Lovely photos.I've given Dunkirk a miss. My Dad was one of the soldiers rescued and he never spoke about it. I didn't want to imagine what he might have gone through.

I have been wondering about Dunkirk . . ..
Reviews from people who have seen it have said . . . LOUD,

Is there anything better than a brand new babe . . .
Doesn't matter to me if it is mine, or theirs . . .
It is simply pretty darn wonderful . . .
How can one not think 'miracle' . . .

Weekend with family looks like fun . . .
(Takes me a few days recovery time too though!)

Lighthouse visits have happened on my end . . .
I have visited the White River Lighthouse a few times.
I remember a favorite visit to a lighthouse in the Upper Peninsula
but I can't remember the name. Guess some research is in order.

Hello Judy, your summer looks grand and busy for sure. That's a sweet church to see as you head home. I enjoyed reading your hodgepodge and am cracking up at you giving an extra star for the popcorn!

Looks like you've had some fun family time! We liked Dunkirk, but it took a while to get the slant of the timing with the air/sea/land thing. You have a lovely landmark leading you home.

What a delightful gathering with all the children having fun there! Looks like a lot of fun. "I Got You Babe"...totally forgot about that song until you wrote about it. Did you ever watch the Sonny and Cher Show? We'd watch it as a family when I was growing up. The church you pictured would be a beautiful beacon to see each time you get closer to your home.

Looks like you have been having some lovely family time! 😊
Our daughter did not think Dunkirk was that good either. She said it had no personal stories and she did not feel connected to the people. I was disappointed to hear that because I have been looking forward to seeing it. It's a great human story from WW2 that is usually overlooked.

Hello, what a grand time indeed. Love all the family photos. The angel carving is beautiful. I would like the pontoon boat ride, looks like a fun time. The swing looks great too. Love the kitties and Jazzie. Visiting lighthouse is one of my favorite things to do. Wonderful collection of photos. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day and weekend ahead!

And even if it takes you a few days to recover, I know that you would not change it for the world. Times like these are what life is all about. It is always a pleasure to see the photos and most especially to read your witty commentary, which often makes me laugh. Ouch on the Dunkirk review. I like a good, honest review and I trust yours; therefore, I won't waste my $ on a ticket. Hope that you are enjoying pleasant summer days...

I have been looking forward to your birthday/reunion pictures (and words) . . . one of the highlights of your year! It is always good to gather with your loved ones! (Of course, I totally get the couple of days . . . or more! . . . of recovery time that is required. Time to reminisce. ~smile~)

Ron and I went to see Dunkirk over the weekend. I was bothered by all of the loud and startling sounds (I know . . . reality in war), but Ron enjoyed the movie. Those actors were certainly not paid by the word!

Your family pictures were awesome. Judging from them, I'd say everyone had a wonderful time :)
I know what you mean about taking a couple of days to recover from it...but it's all worth it!

Checking in late but I made it! I enjoyed your HP and especially enjoyed seeing all the photos of happy people enjoying a fun family gathering! Joe and I saw Dunkirk. I was emotionally wrung out when it finally ended. Disappointed that there weren't at least a couple of more personal stories to go along with it. I actually looked up the history on the computer when we got home so I could get some closure. I think I agree with your two stars.
