Hodgepodging With Social Distancing

Full moon at Dallas
(Neighbor Bill's barn is nearing its end)

and a little later,
full moon at Wausau
near Frog Pond Road
The peepers were happily noisy.

1. How will you celebrate Easter this year?

I don't know if I'll be in Wausau or in Dallas for Easter, but either way, the Resurrection will be celebrated first by attending our church service onlineAfter that, dinner with Mr. C., making sure there are 3 yards between us. (Just kidding.) We will Instagram or text the kids, or maybe even see them, if we can maintain the social distancing thing.

Have you noticed how important the choice of the music is to the words of the hymn?

2. Is it easier for you to receive grace offered or extend grace to another? Explain. Actually, I don't think either is difficult for me now, but not without first having learned a hard lesson in receiving grace offered.

3. Do you say grace before meals? Yes, usually, although I was once at a church meeting , after which there was a dessert buffet, and when God was asked to 'bless this food to our body's good,' I thought that was really a stretch. If so do you have a standard dinnertime grace or is it more 'off the cuff' ? It's not a standard prayer. Do you say grace when dining out? What's 'dining out??' We rarely eat at restaurants because of, well, just read further up in this paragraph. But if we do eat at a restaurant, yes, usually. Do you have a favorite grace? No. Any special memory associated with 'saying grace'? Only that when my Grandpa Nelson would pray aloud, just thinking of what Jesus had done for him caused him to weep. I can understand that. I've only cried at a handful of movies, but there are a few hymns that get me every time.

I found another place to store books.

4. What are some challenges you think the next generation will face? (Generation Alpha-born between 2011 and 2025).  Much more government control, much less freedom of worship.

5. Share a favorite quote or lyric featuring the word faith.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.

Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone!

"My Faith Looks Up to Thee" -- excellent choice for the use of the word 'faith.' This hymn means more than ever to me these days.

That's a great quote..."He brings healing and hope." And I am so grateful for that. Hoping you have a safe, healthy, and blessed Easter.

poor old barn does look like it is not long for this world, but both photos are beautiful...I am so tired of social distancing and looking forward to a somewhat normal world. I want our rituals back... I have even twice forgotten to brush my teeth when I get up. we are both ritualistic and if I don't do things by habit I forget them. even teeth. stay safe and Happy Easter

Beautiful pictures of the moon. I was able to see the pink moon for a bit, but there were slivers of clouds floating across it. By the time I got back to try again, it was silver again. Happy Resurrection Day, wherever you may be.

Oh that quote! Thank you for sharing it. "My Faith Looks Up to Thee" was also one of my initial thoughts. Where else should our faith be placed? I was awake this morning at 1:30 AM and went outside to see the huge, beautiful moon right over our house. Another holy awesome moment with the creator. Have a blessed Easter where ever you might be. He is Risen!

Hello Judy,
I enjoyed your quote.
Say Hi to Mr. C from our family.
Is Frog Pond Road the real name of the road? ;-) LOL
Love, Carla

Yes, yes, yes! "...not without first having learned a hard lesson in receiving grace offered." It took me so long to learn this precious lesson and what a sweet gift it is to finally know how to receive grace so that I can show grace to others. God is so so so good!

We will be having Easter at home as well by watching our Easter service online. We sure are looking forward to when we can be back worshiping together in person with other believers when things start to return to "normal", whatever "normal" is going to become.

Thank you for sharing these questions. I really enjoyed reading your answers!

I hope you have a wonderful and blessed Easter!

Love,
Annie

I'm happy to see you in the Hodgepodge this week! My girls say hubs isn't allowed to say our grace because something about it makes him emotional too : ) It's quite touching actually. Happy Easter to you!

You made me laugh over praying for dessert. When we pray over something that isn't really good for us, I just thank God for it and don't ask him to bless it to nourish our body. lol

Church services here are online, mostly. A few have been having drive up services: stay in your car and listen to the pastor on the megaphone. Stay well.

As our Easter celebrations will be so different this year, I wonder . . . could it be that they will be even more meaningful as we focus on the Resurrection without other distractions? I wonder.

Beautiful hymn!

(And, yes, I have had similar thoughts about asking God to bless a donut breakfast. 😉)

The closing thought touched my heart. Thanks for sharing with us.

Judy, your moon photos are outstanding! And I always enjoy your barn photos, though it makes me sad to see one on its last legs. I hope your neighbor will find worthy recipients for the prized old barn wood when it falls down and that he will keep a portion of it and build something wonderful with it.

I always enjoy reading your answers, Judy. Wasn't that moon something? I do remember and love that old hymn as well...thanks for bringing back a sweet memory of sitting in my mom's Old German Baptist church and the music was sung acapella...women on one side, men on the other. Have a blessed Easter and stay safe and healthy!

I really enjoyed the quote you shared by N. T. Wright. So thankful that in the midst of whatever we are going through, Jesus is there with us. Your moon pictures are gorgeous! I didn't get to see the moonrise here but did get to see it later in the evening after dark, and it was so bright! So amazing to see the bright light in the sky like this. I pray you have a blessed rest of the week as we remember our dear Lord Jesus, and the price paid on Calvary, and thankful for the Resurrection Sunday! Much love to you :)
