Scandinavian Prairie Church,
North of Tilden, WI
February 2015

***

As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him.
For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.

As for man, his days are like grass;
he flourishes like a flower of the field;
for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more.

But the steadfast love of the LORD
is from everlasting to everlasting
on those who fear him,
and his righteousness to children's children,
to those who keep his covenant
and remember to do his commandments.

The LORD has established his throne in the heavens,
and his kingdom rules over all.

- Psalm 103:13-19

P.S.  The photos above were taken in February. We are so happy to report that the snow is gone, the migratory birds are back, the garden is ready to be tilled, and it will soon be time to cut the grass.
I tend to complain about winter (as though you hadn't noticed), but it certainly does make me appreciate springtime!

What a beautiful church. It looks very unusual to me, as I am used to the Russian Orthodox churches with their elaborate design. This one is so streamlined and clean.

Yay to springtime! Just posted our early blooms in my last post. I don't normally complain about winter - I actually love it- but I sure did THIS winter past - it seemed to have lasted forever and a day!

I think everyone is so enjoying the Earth Made New again! Blessings to you!

Love, love, love the church with the cemetery next to it. I can't explain it but it makes me feel like all is right with the world, the world I felt was perfect when I was a child.

A Scandinavian Prairie Church? I have never heard of this. Were there several of them along the prairies? Are they all the same denomination? What is the denomination of this one? This is what we thing of when we think of a lovely old church. It is beautiful! I wonder if they have a congregation...

The church and cemetery look so pristine in the snow. It must have been hard with such a long winter, Laura of I Heart Macro tries to enjoy every moment and be glad to have a lesson in patience, I could use more patience. I'm glad things are warming up for you. I enjoyed all the scripture.

Gorgeous photos of this lovely church, although there is the white stuff all around...it makes it all the more pristine..."whiter than snow, whiter than snow...." So glad yours is gone now and you can get on with your springtime before summer rolls around! :)

Love those verses from Psalm 103!!
And, yes, springtime is so sweet to the winter-weary!

What a charming little church, sigh...
Yes, spring is in the air. The birds are busy nesting here and I just love it. We had a lovely rain last night and today, much needed. Our winter didn't produce the amount of snow that we usually get so things are dry.

Have a blessed week,
Debbie

Lovely post, Judy! I adore older country churches. Our youngest chose this type for her wedding instead of the one where we attended at the time. Beautiful post.
Have a great week!
