The Greatest Monarch in the Universe

Photo: cnn.com

You may be surprised to learn that I did not stay glued to the TV for the coverage of the Queen's  Diamond Jubilee celebration. Admittedly, it was mostly due to the fact that we have rabbit ears, not cable. I did catch some of it online, and it was amazing.

The Brits go all out for a party, and this was, indeed, a special time for them. Even those who disdain a monarchy should admit that this particular woman was someone to be admired. She provided an unwavering example of dignity, duty, and perseverance during the entire 60 years of her reign.

But something else came to mind as I watched the unbelievably huge crowds jubilantly cheering, waving the flag, and singing 'God Save the Queen.'

Queen Elizabeth is a human.

Like the rest of us, she was born a sinner. I'll have to admit that I'm fond of that particular sinner a lot more than some other sinners, but the truth is, we're all sinners. We've all fallen short of the glory of God.

I think Queen Elizabeth II is admirable and gives Great Britain a stability it might not have had without her. But she is still a created being.

There is a monarch, however, 'begotten not created,' who rules over all the Universe - not just Great Britain.

And some day, everyone will bow before the King of Kings. Even those who arrogantly think they have no need for God will bow before Jesus,

"Who, being in very nature God,
    did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
    being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man,
    he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death —
        even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father."
Phil 2:3-11 NIV

'Christ didn't die on the cross because we were special,
but because we were sinful.' SLS

He paid the price for our sinfulness
so that we can stand before God,
unashamed and FREE,
clothed with Jesus' righteousness!

Amazing grace.

Put your trust in Him.

"Salvation is found in no one else,
for there is no other name under heaven
given to mankind,
by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12 NIV

I love this clip from 'Narnia' where Aslan roars and the White Witch drops to her knees. It is such a picture of that verse above.

Chris and I actually watched a bit of the concert. It was pretty good - they sure do love their queen, don't they? :) Loved hearing Charles call her Mummy!

My brother said even all the way up in Leeds it was insane. Brits can party. :)

Such a shame that her husband Prince Philip was hospitalised and was not at her side for all of the events and a shame that the weather was pretty awful for most of it. I especially liked that our Queen thanked the nation for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

So rightly spoken, Judy. "O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together". Every knee will bow before Him.

Yes, we will all meet our maker in the hereafter and report our deed whether good or bad and hopefully we will have more good deeds because Jesus died for our sins to be forgiven.

What a wonderful post, Judy. It is my prayer that whether comments made (or not made)may only speak of the queen and her reign, that this post will cause contemplation on the King of Kings and His role in our lives and in the universe. Surely, someday, "Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Phil 2. I thank God for you and for your willingness to stand for Truth!
