Thank you, Joyce, for all of your work
and dedication to this weekly Hodgepodge!

1. What makes you feel accomplished? Explain.

I'm not even sure what you're meaning by that. I don't think I've ever felt 'accomplished.' As a great man once said, 'There's always room for improvement.' Maybe a feeling of being accomplished is more suited to the generation after mine.  I am not from the 'self esteem' generation. In my generation, doing what you had to do was simply what was expected, nothing extraordinary.

2. If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be? Tell us why.

I would invite Diana from The Nana Diana and 'Katie' from Preppy Empty Nester and Debby from Debbys Favorite Things - because I think it would be a blast. :-) And the next week I'd choose three other bloggers that I've enjoyed getting to know over the past years! And I'd probably also have Tommy & Smokey in attendance to keep order. I can see things getting out of hand FAST with that crew!  LOL

3. Do you have a great burger recipe? What's in it? What do you like on a hamburger and where is your favorite spot to order one out?

I rarely eat burgers, and never with a bun, so I guess I'd say that I'd want mine grilled with lots of lighter fluid flavor in it and also I'd have a skillet of onions fried in butter to put on the top. Maybe some coarse, dark mustard too. That sounds good to me.

Giving me the evil eye

4. What's the biggest anxiety producing thing you do on a regular basis?

I probably shouldn't have joined the Hodgepodge today, because my answers are all pretty lame, but actually I tend not to do things that produce anxiety. Why would I? Although I'll admit that it does produce temporary anxiety when Etsy changes something and makes it more complicated than it has to be.

5. This is the last Hodgepodge of May. Tell us about your summer plans.

Summer and fall are Mr. C.'s heavy workload months (in the contracting business) so we rarely have summer plans. We save all the fun for winter, where we huddle beside the fire and wait for spring to arrive. BUT, the first few weeks of my summer will be taken up with jury duty, which means you can't really go anywhere in case you're called in. But on the weekend I am going to go visit my sister who is in Minnesota after spending the winter in Florida. She lives in the lakes area around Minneapolis, and I've not been to their new place yet, so if it doesn't rain, it should be a great day. Also, we're spending a weekend in Door County (my first time ever!) with our daughter and son in law next month (looking forward to that!) And I'm hoping to get a few weekend trips to Duluth and to Copper Falls. And then there's the best summer weekend, my birthday weekend in August. AND I will be buying train tickets and Oyster cards for an upcoming fall trip to England. Other than that, summer will, I hope, involve seeing more of the family. Grandkids are allowed to bring their parents along and I promise to feed them.

I take it all back about rarely having summer plans.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

a.  I'm hoping to get to the Westby area again soon for another visit to my second favorite part of our state.

It's about a 3 hour drive...a 3 hour drive.
Get out of my brain, Gilligan!

b.  Mr. C. just pointed out a couple of sign's that had unnecessary apostrophe's. It is a pet peeve that we share. So if I ever put them in blog post's, be sure to let me know.

Saving the best for last:

c.  At kindergarten last week, our grandson's teacher told the class that they were going to learn about putting an 's' at the end of a word to  make it plural - more than one.  Henry piped up, 'Oh, like bacteria and bacterium. Bacteria is plural and bacterium is singular.'

Uh, right.

That poor teacher. :-))

LOVE your answer to number one, Judy. Yes. I'm chuckling at your "lack" of summer plans and your post's! ;) Have a wonderful day! blessings ~ tanna
ps that sure is a cute lawn guy! ;)

I am certainly not very accomplished because I did not know the difference between bacteria and bacterium. I do hope that's a milk cow and not a burger cow cuz it sure is pretty. Smarty pants and blue eyes are adorable and those are what I call electric blue eyes. And I too am laughing at your lack of summer plans I truly have no summer plans I do the same thing 365 days out of every year and have not been out of our city since 2008. I don't know why you said your crummy camera phone because that is a beautiful photo

I accept! I would love to be a guest on your talk show and be in such prestigious company!I don't have big summer plans either so I had to make some up. I'll have my people call your people as to the deets on your talk show. Have a great week, dear Judy.

OH MY GOSH! Don't put me next to Katie on that couch or I will be wetting my pants as she passes around pictures of her two pupsters looking bored, happy & any other emotion you can think of assigning to a dog. lol I take it as a compliment of the highest order that YOU would want ME on your talk show....lol

That first picture you posted today is just beautiful.....a true peek at life in WI with the barn and summer sky above it.

Have a great day, Judy. xo Diana

ps. SO thrilled you are going to Door County. Make sure you eat at Al Johnson's in Sister Bay so you can see the goats on the roof. I "think" you can find something to eat there that would fit your food plan...and....they do have good, strong coffee!!

Oh I am glad I wasn't the only one without BIG summer plans! Lol.

No big summer plans here either Judy. We will go to Grimmwood and take a few day trips around North Ga. We do have a weekend lined up in Memphis and in Brevard NC to visit family. I love that little grandson's answer to the teacher. Oh my goodness, his teacher probably gasped inside her head.lol

It does sound like a busy summer. I want to come to your party though and I don't see my name of the list! hahaha! Wish I could go fishin' and catch a big fish like that one! Hugs!

I'm with you on the "accomplished" thing...I never really feel I am either. And how could you say that that your answers were lame when you wanted to have me on your talk show! LOL! Seriously, that would be a hoot...but it sounds like I need to Katie's blog and introduce myself first :) Henry must be pretty smart cookie...maybe he could fill in for the teacher one day! :D

Loved your answers today, Judy! Hooray for Henry and his plurals! And I share that pet peeve about apostrophes. It annoys me no end when I see signs by homes saying "The Brown's" or "The Smith's."

Oh, and your barn photos ... always love them!

That would be a nice group of gals. And poor teachers is right! Love your photos. How can you say you are not accomplished girl - you are one of the most accomplished gals I know! sandie

I love that you are having bloggers on your show! Enjoy your summer trips. No doubt that I probably make a lot of apostrophe mistakes. Love the thoughts from your grandson.

Happy end of May! I love the pictures of Tommy and Smokey and the cow is wonderful! Being a teacher I just love the response Henry gave to his teacher when talking about making words plural. The barn picture at the start is beautiful! Just love stopping in to see all the fantastic pictures! :-)

Mr. Blue Eyes and Mr. Smarty Pants are toooo cute! Great photo at the top even if taken on your crummy cell phone. I love that you would interview bloggers. I need to visit the other "one's" you mentioned. (The apostrophe's bother me too!)

We have a new baby coming in August. Maybe y'all will share a birthday! Our summer won't be too much to talk about. Other than 5 family birthdays, Marcy's first birthday, Roland's birth and Nashville daughter and DrummerBoy's visit. Just slow and lazy. Ha! I should have put Etsy and their changes on the anxiety question but I tend to go with that flow as well. By ignoring them. LOL Now, about those apostrophe's... Have a great day!

Cheryl said...

Oh my goodness. That Henry is something else! I'll bet Henry will never use unnecessary apostrophes. (And that is a pet peeve of mine too.)

I love your idea of a family reunion on your birthday weekend. I'd consider stealing the idea if my family didn't all live nearby now. Look forward to seeing those pics of happy times in August!

Good morning Dear Judy, Oh I am so glad that I have a few minutes to join in this morning with you. Your pictures are stunning. And I especially like that one of that little cutie with the fish. Made me smile this morning. So here's my answers:

1. What makes you feel accomplished? Explain.

I loved your answer Judy. That pretty much sums me up too. But, something that comes to mind for me right now is this and please bare with me for a minute. I used to think that my feeling accomplished stemmed from everything on my to-do list being checked off. Now, I am just happy if I get some of things on my to-do list accomplished and at the end of the day If I can say to myself, You've done what you could....I am feeling pretty accomplished! With my type personality that thinks EVERYTHING has to be accomplished, believe me, this is a HUGE breakthrough for me! LOL!

2. If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be? Tell us why.
I'd have Pam Richardson for sure from Everyday Living so she could do a show and tell episode on her lovely tablescapes. I'd also have Priscilla Shirer as my guest. Anointed speaker and bible study teacher. And my 3rd one would be Jemma, with At Home with Jemma. That gal is so well rounded in every area it seems and looks good to boot. I wanna know her secrets. LOL!

3. Do you have a great burger recipe? What's in it? What do you like on a hamburger and where is your favorite spot to order one out?
I like hamburgers but it's my go to for a cookout and sometimes, we grill hamburgers for the grands birthdays if that's what they want. And I doctor my hamburger up with all sorts of things till not sure I have a set recipe. If I buy a hamburger, which is very seldom, it's a Hardee burger.

4. What's the biggest anxiety producing thing you do on a regular basis?
Well, that's a hard one right now because since I had a mini stroke back in January, I have truly tried very hard to take off my LIST anxiety producing things....and people! We can't escape it totally but I truly try to keep anxiety at a low. It doesn't always work out like I want it too though.

5. This is the last Hodgepodge of May. Tell us about your summer plans.
You cracked me up about the grandkids can bring their parents and you will feed them! Too funny. Summer plans for me: The only big thing I have planned as of right now will be that my husband and I along with our three daughters, three soninloves and five grands will be spending 7 days on the beach together. I am excited about that!

6. Insert your own random thought here.
This has been fun this morning. So glad I have joined in. I love reading other's responses.
I hope you have a beautiful day sweet lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

Judy, I'm with you on the apostrophized plurals. I love the way you just quietly slipped in the fall trip to England -- AS IF that's not a major thing. I don't think I could be on your talk show if Tommy and Smokey were there -- I'd just sit there petting them and baby-talking them and ignoring everything else!

I'm always catching up, it seems, but here I am!! I don't agree with your #1 because you are very accomplished at making soaps and handling your Etsy Shop. You are an amazing wife, mom and grandmom and woman of God. Quite accomplished in my eyes! Love the evil eye in #3!! I like your talk show answer!! Mr. Blue eyes is adorable. Mr. Smarty Pants made me laugh! Wow! And I am so excited for your fall trip to England!

HA ha, loved the random thoughts, especially the KG pluralizing.

Love your 'lack' of summer plans! I agree with you about not doing things that cause anxiety. Why would you do them?

Hahah! Love that bacteria example!
