Souvenirs of Britain - Anglophile Friday

This is the type of souvenir I bring home. I found this tiny ceramic Tey Pottery village (it's about 9 inches long) in a little thrift shop in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, across the street from the butcher shop. I liked it instantly, because it represented an English village, and because it had a heavy, smooth glaze, with no nicks or scratches. And, because it was only a couple £ - which I thought was a good price for something I liked.

Look at that cute little Norman church!

I forgot to mention that it has green felt on the bottom.

and the thatched-roofed cottage

The little Tey Pottery village isn't the only Tey Pottery out there, I've discovered. They've made several other pottery buildings, their 'Britain in Minature' series. Some of it is very rare. I don't know about this piece. But it doesn't matter. I bought it because I liked it. I suppose I should check it out just in case it's worth 2.2 million dollars or something, like that Chinese bowl bought for $3 at a garage sale!

From TeyPottery.blogspot.com: "Tey Pottery was originally started by Carol Maxted-Massey at Marks Tey , Colchester . The pottery was later made at three locations , Hainford, Lenwade and Banham , all in Norfolk ."

And if you want to start your own collection of Tey Pottery, check out Ebay.

Not Tey Pottery, but...
he was one of my favorite souvenirs, and used to stand on my desk.
Now he reclines. He can't seem to keep his head about him.

But most of my souvenirs are the photos I take.

So what kind of souvenirs do you like to bring home, and do you shop the thrift stores to find them?
