Bus Driver Stops Suicide

Just in case you missed this today, I thought this was the most inspirational news story I've heard in a very long time. Not just that the bus driver stopped his bus in the middle of the bridge, got out, and managed to talk the would-be suicide back onto this side of the railing, but that he then...

sat down beside her and put his arm around her, and stayed with her until counselors arrived.

When our typical news story is about scheming politicians or police officers getting shot or people losing employment, it is so refreshing to hear some really good news.

From UK Daily Mail:

"Hero driver stops bus full of passengers in the middle of a bridge and saves suicidal woman from jumping

  • Darnell Barton was going along his usual route in Buffalo when he spotted the woman at the other side of the rail
  • Described her as distraught and disconnected
  • When he asked her if she wanted to go on the other side of the rail she said yes
  • He sat and talked with her until counselors came

If you've heard another inspirational news story lately, I'd love it if you'd share it with us!

This was a wonderful story . So sad that people walked or rode bikes right past her...who can't offer a ray of hope to others? The bus driver was an angel for this young girl. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

I could not believe the people who passed her by without stopping to check on her. The scene of him sitting down on the pavement to comfort her is so touching.

Sometimes we are not aware of the angels that walk amongst us. What an amazing, calm and collected man. A credit to society xx

We saw that on the news too and talked about it. Oh, to know that someone would take the time to stay with you when you needed them. I'd like him for a friend, wouldn't you? Sweet hugs!

What a good news story -- at least from the driver's side. Very sad a woman would be at that place in life. Thanks for sharing something so positive. Many don't want to get involved.

God bless him!! A wonderful story. I was happy to hear the passengers applaud, too (but wondered how many were complaining about the wait). There are good people in this world - more than we hear about. Thanks for sharing good news!!

Amazing story. Bus drivers can so often be pillars of the community. Interesting that you had to get that from the Daily Mail.
