1. Tuppence: On Monday we had to take our sweet kitty Tuppence to the vet for her final visit. She had lost half her body weight over the past few months and had developed a large tumor on her forehead that pushed against her eye and also affected her sinuses, apparently. I will miss her constant presence, especially at night when she would, every night, lie snuggled up to me, pushing her body against my neck for security or warmth (or just testing to see if I could still breathe.)
Tuppence will be buried in our pet cemetery next to the other pets who have gone before her: Tommy, Lionel, Bridger, and Misty. We have to wait until the ground is no longer frozen. Currently, the ground is frozen about four feet down. So until it thaws, she is waiting, wrapped in a fuzzy blanket, inside a nice tool box, and under some insulation so the sun doesn't shine too fiercely upon her casket. That would not be good.
She put up with a lot, did that cat.
Pictured here with her best buddy, Lionel,
who preceded her in 2012.

Why am I putting this in a blog post?
Because I've mentioned Tuppence many times on my blog

2: Tuesday: It was a very odd day yesterday. I accomplished absolutely nothing, except for a couple batches of laundry and enjoying the kittens.

3. Smokey has a treat in store for her on Thursday morning: I'm taking her to the vet to be spayed. Because she is so small, I assumed that I had lots of time before taking her in for that surgery. The vet told me otherwise. Evidently, I'm pushing my luck with a kitten six months old not developing some bad habits related to sexual maturity. After feeling a slight sense of panic, I decided to get her spayed as soon as possible, which is Thursday, tomorrow morning. So I will be dropping her off at the vet clinic about 7 AM. Poor little Smokey. Then on Friday morning I'll pick her up and bring her home, where she and huge, rambunctious Tommy will be separated until Smokey is feeling better and healed from her surgery. I'm prepared for several days of loud protest from Tommy.
Poor little me
4. I've been following the weather map and I can't tell you how sorry I am, New Englanders, that you are once again getting hammered with a snowstorm. Will spring ever come??
Our May, 2013 snowstorm
How glad I am that we don't currently have snow on the ground.
We got 18" of snow in that storm. It was so depressing!
5. Some of our family were here over the weekend to celebrate our daughter's birthday. Here is a picture of her when she was a tiny little girl, before I learned about child labor laws. ;-)

I am so sorry for your loss. ((Hugs))
Awww Judy I am so sorry. I know it is so hard when we lose our pets. HopoSmokey will do great with surgery and recover quickly.
Sending a hug your way, Judy. I'm so sorry to hear that you said "good-bye" to Tuppence. It's such a personal loss when we lose a beloved cat or dog. She was such a pretty girl and a loving companion. I hope your sweet memories of her, and knowing you gave her a wonderful home, give you comfort. I hope all goes well for little Smokey. It's the best thing we can do for our cats. Lovely photo of you and your daughter. Deb
Judy, I am so very sorry about Tuppence. Through your blog, I had grown to love her too! I hope Smokey does just fine. This is a beautiful photo of you and your daughter. Blessings to you all this weekend. xoxo
So sorry Judy...I know she was a special kitty.
oh so sorry about Tuppence :(
Always difficult to say goodbye to a pet. I know you and the kittens will miss her terribly.
My heart just hurts when anyone loses a beloved fur-baby. Pet lovers all understand. Hugs.
Your daughter is as lovely as her mom!! Great photo.
Your ground is frozen down four feet?!! Oh my goodness, it has to be cold for a long, long time for that to happen. I am so "Florida" now that I can't even imagine the cold like that anymore. I grew up in Ohio and we loved ice skating on our Buckeye Lake, but those memories have lost their chill for me! LOL Putting plastic bags inside two layers of socks so we could skate all day....brrrrrrr!
He he he on child labor laws.. my mother broke every law there is now... love that pic. my heart hurts for you and my eyes have tears for your sweet Tuppence. I beleinve God put Tommy and Smokey in your life for a reason. poor sweet smokey. good luck .. glad you are not snowed in. I have never even seen frozen ground to more than 2 inches.
Awww....I am so sorry, Judy...sending you much love and hugs...
hey---we got 24 inches here in western NY--I kid you not...sigh.
So sorry, Judy, to hear of Tuppence's passing. A hard decision, but softened somehow by the sure knowledge that you did the very best you could for her. I know how much she will be missed.
Happy for you that you didn't get snow in this latest storm. We have somewhat over a foot, I think, in our part of NH. The good news is that it should melt fairly quickly.
The picture of your daughter as a child is beautiful. Looks more vintage than it is. And the one of the two of you together ... just gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.
Awwww. I am so sorry to hear about Tuppence! It is heart-wrenching to say good-bye to a beloved pet . . . the hardest part of loving a pet. The comfort lies in knowing that we have done our best to give him/her a safe and happy life. (We fear that we are nearing the end with one of our cats. Yes, heart-wrenching.)
{{hugs}}
Judy, Your little maid servant (daughter) grew into a beautiful young lady. So sweet. I am sorry about your kitty cat Tuppence..she gave love to many , so it seems. Hoping for a nice spring thaw all around. Yes, I am so sorry for all those in that huge winter storm. Scary. Blessings , xoxo, Susie
YOU and your daughter are beautiful women. I am so sorry about Tuppence - it never gets easy. I see our beloved Disco getting older and I just HATE it. Did you get more snow there? I love your photos. Stay warm. Sandie
I love your cats name Tuppence and I'm sorry for your loss. Our Tiger that passed in January ( 20 yrs ) sometimes would sleep on my pillow with me at night. Now you have 2 little kittens with boundless energy and Bless you for taking them in.

Low 90s here
I know this is a sad time for your family. God bless you.
I am sorry to hear about your beloved Tuppence. To lose your pet is just never easy. We had soo many cats over the years when my kids were growing up and they always brought such pleasure. LOVE the picture of you and your daughter. BOTH beautiful ladies!
It took me a while to get over here to read this. I wasn't sure I could do it. I did but not without a few tears. I have promised myself that I won't go that route again once I don't have Tucker anymore. It may not matter, however since I'm not sure I'll be able to go on without him. It's so hard to say goodbye to a beloved pet. I'm so cold this week! We're going down to 27 tonight. We've been colder in past years but I'll take it since we haven't had winter at all in the last couple of years. The only thing we're missing is the snow. Though I do NOT want what New England is having. Yikes! Again, so sorry about Tuppence. Hoping the kitties have an easy time with the next few days.
So hard. But you will have lovely memories of your dear little cat.
Sorry for your loss. That's nice that you have your own pet cemetery on your property. Lovely photos of daughter and you. Love the child labor shot!
I am so sorry to hear about your Tuppence! You really do love cats! I don't have one right now and I do miss that. One of my favorites was Maggie - she would drink her water from a stemmed wine glass. And bang on our closed bedroom door wanting to come in and sleep by my head.
Cats are so entertaining.
What a lovely photo of you and your daughter!!
I'm sorry about the passing of your precious Tuppence. I'm glad you have some other furry critters to help bring you some comfort. The photo of you and your daughter together is lovely. I hope all goes well with Thursday's procedure for your kitten.
I'm so sorry about Tuppence, Judy. You've shared about her a lot on here and I know you will miss her terribly. I hope your little miss does ok with her surgery tomorrow. She and Tommy are so cute together.
It's nice you have your new little kitties to bring some cheer in your loss. I love your pet cemetery.
I'm so sorry about your sweet Tuppence, Judy. That's the hard part of having loved our pets. They don't last as long as we hopefully do. Good luck with little Smokey. You are a good mother to your pets. What a touching pet cemetery. I love the photo of your daughter and you. And the photo of her hanging laundry is adorable. Stay warm and cozy. ♥
Pets are family. Sorry for your loss.
So sorry Tuppence had to cross the rainbow bridge but at least the kittens will help fill the void she leaves. Poor things when 'that' time comes but it's a necessity otherwise the baby cycle could start all over again. :-)
Your daughter probably appreciates that she learned to hang laundry at an early age. Hmm, well one can hope she appreciates it? lol Nice photo of the two of you.
xx
Hi Judy,
I'm so sorry you lost your precious Tuppence. I love that name, by the way. It never gets any easier to lose a beloved pet does it? Smokey is so cute; we used to have a next-door neighbor for years with a cat named Smokey. She was a BEAUTIFUL tortoise shell color with long hair.
Yes, after almost a complete non-winter here in North Carolina (except for a good snow back in January) it is now bitterly cold here, just in time to freeze all the blooms on our flowering trees. Sigh. I love the picture of your daughter -- that bonnet is just too cute. :D
Hope you have a great rest of the week, Judy!
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
Sad for you with Tuppences passing . . .
Our animal pets bless us with much . . .
My thoughts, my caring.
Loved your mother daughter pic . . . pretty twosome . . .
Hope surgery day goes well . . .
Oh my . . . the kittenns . . . sweetness . . .
Judy, I'm finding it hard to even write this with the tears that have filed my eyes.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Those fur babies have a way of grabbing hold of our heartstrings. Your Tuppence was precious.
We too are awaiting the ground to thaw so we can burry our little Lakota. He was our third house pet rabbit. We lost him in December after a long battle with an illness.
May your heart find comfort in the love of God.
Bless you, dear lady ♡
So very sorry to hear about Tuppence. Hugs to you.
Hello Judy, wonderful photos of your sweet kitty Tuppence. So sorry for your loss! Your pets and grandkiddies are adorable, wonderful family photos. HUGS!!
Sorry about Tuppence. Pet passings are so hard. We have a pet cemetery too. Every day I love on our old barn cats - 18 years old, sisters - 12 year old daughter - they have lived full lives - I'm sure over their 9....
Dear Judy, I am so sorry about your kitty. Bless your heart. Enjoyed looking at your pictures and the one of you and your daughter is so pretty. You both are beautiful. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
So sorry for your loss. Tuppence looks like she was a sweet kitty. So many sweet pictures of your pets. We have a pet cemetery out back too but I never put more than a rock at their grave sites. Rest In Peace Tuppence.
What a beautiful daughter who looks a lot like her beautiful mother. I believe in child labor so I will never report you. My grandson describes the day that I allowed him to clean the ditch as one of the happiest days of his life. Children enjoy work. It's a good lesson.
I am sad that Tuppence has passed over. She was a loving, wonderful kitty and you will surely miss your beloved pet's presence. And glad I am that you have two new darling kitties to love.
Thank you for your kind sympathies. I am simply buried in snow and to add insult to injury the town plows are going by as I type widening the road. They have my front lawn piled high with snow. Apparently, there is some concern for a weekend snow event and yet another next week. I am working very hard to keep my cheery side up, but if I go really missing, I probably can be found napping with the covers over my head.
So very sorry to hear about Tuppence. What a beautiful cat.
Love the picture of you and your daughter! I am truly sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved cat Tuppence. I know how hard that is and they become such a big part of our hearts and our families. I have no doubt she had a very happy life with you and your family :-)
Blessings,
Jill
You and your daughter look very much alike..So sorry about Tuppence..I know there is a big hole in your heart..She and Max will be romping around in kitty heaven..Nice that you have the kitties..All the best with Smokey..I hope Tommy behaves himself..
so so so sorry to hear about Tuppence the other day. I'm so sorry for your loss. It hurts so deep and so bad to lose a beloved animal, you just dont think you'll EVER get over it. Love the snuggly picture of the youngsters! Such cute kitties. How is Smokey and do you have her home yet? Hope all went well, they seem to bounce back quickly from that surgery. Happy st patrick's day!
So sorry to hear about Tuppence! Remembering Sam and Weber today, too! Wishing you well!
So very sorry to hear about Tuppence, CM. The price we pay for love. I grew up with cats (you know what I mean) and enjoy their independent company, but Mrs Britain won't have one and we're both far too selfish for a dog. Like the idea though. But Tuppence is better free from pain, though they certainly leave a hole when they go. Let's hope it thaws soon. On a lighter note, who did you say those two beautiful women in the last photograph were? No?! - really?!
It is so difficult when one of our fur babies crosses the Rainbow Bridge. Tuppence was a beautiful kitty and so lucky to be part of your family. Hope Smokey makes a quick recovery! I chuckled reading "child labor"!!!! What a beautiful young woman! Two beautiful women. Happy FRiday!
I was just looking at the pictures of your animals on your sidebar yesterday, and was taken with Bridger (handsome boy) and Tuppence (I love her name), although they're all adorable. I know you'll miss her company, I bet the kittens will be a comfort.
Oh, Judy, I am so sorry. These little companions really do imprint our hearts and when they leave us, there is an empty space and a sad heart. She certainly had a wonderful life full of love and kindness with you and your family. I am all too familiar with these losses lately......as you know. Such lovely photos of your little grands and you and your daughter. Love the 'child labor' photo, too (sweetness). Hoping your new kitty comes through her surgery fine and the 'separation' is not too unpleasant for Tommy (and for you). I think we are all anxious for spring this year. xx Karen
It's lovely to see a photo of you and your daughter. So sorry about the loss of your cat. Pets become a part of the family. Thanks for sharing your Five on Friday
haha, Dickens-era life! What a sweet picture!
I am so sorry about the loss of your sweet kitty. Sounds like she was quite fond of you, too. Sad when we lose our sweet little friends.
We have snow here too in Michigan, but not as much as in the northeast. It has been hard to get used to again after having such a mild February. It's perfectly normal, but seems unfair after that warm weather!!
xo Deborah
Enjoyed reading about your week. Sorry for your loss with Kitty. Hope your other kitten heals soon.
Hi Judy,
Sending a hug. I know our boys loved Tuppence too.
Smokey is beautiful. I love her eyes.
Enjoy the weekend, I think it is to warm up!!
Carla
Oh Judy, this post brought tears to my eyes. What a precious cat...one that will be missed by many.
Thinking of you, dear friend. Have a wonderful and relaxing weekend. Hugs!
So very sorry to read about your loss of Tuppence she sounds like a wonderful, sweet companion. I know how you feel as I lost my little friend of 20 years last August and I miss her dreadfully, we still have her brother now nearly 21 but he is getting frailer. It is hard to part with our beloved animals. Take care:)
So sorry for your loss of sweet Tuppence. Pets are family and we grieve so much when they are gone. xo Laura
So sorry to hear about Tuppence. Pets become such a part of the family. It is so hard when they pass on.
I am glad you have new kittens to love you.
Happy Birthday to your daughter!

Wishing you a lovely weekend ~ ^_^ ~ Beautiful daughter and great pic of you too ~
So sorry for your loss. Your memories of her via photography are really, really good.
You and your daughter are beautiful!
Sending my sympathies and hugs again Judy. Our furry Loves are so hard to lose. I love that you have a pet cemetery. That is so cool.
Best of luck to Smoky - hope all went well! And happy belated bday to your daughter -she sure looks just like you! Couple of pretty Ladies. Love that photo when she was a wee kiddo ;)
Blessings on the rest of your weekend dear Gal. xoxo
I'm so sorry for the loss of Tuppence. They truly do become a member of the family and I still remember the pain of losing our cat more than 10 years ago now! I'm glad to see more kitties growing up in your house and I pray they bring you many years of joy!
Hello Judy! Just stopping back to say thank you so much for linking up and sharing your post. It is always so hard to loose a family pet, I still miss my Goldie Girl.
Have a happy day and new week ahead!
Happy belated birthday to your daughter. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your cat.
