Red Cedar River, Giveaway Reminder

Sorry, you may think that this is a bait-and-switch, but I have no intention of giving away the Red Cedar River. (You can check out the Giveaway below.)

I apologize to my dear blog friends. I missed Hodgepodge Wednesday yesterday, and have had no time to visit others' blogs. I'm hoping to get caught up over the weekend. In the meantime, I wanted to get these photos of the beautiful Red Cedar River northeast of Rice Lake, WI (where those barn photos came from in Tuesday's post). It was a beautiful sunny winter day. The river looked so blue.
I was glad to get that old square German-style house in the background on this particular farm. There are many houses like that in our area. They have a large eat-in kitchen, and the second story usually has a central hall that runs the full length of the house with bedrooms on each side. Very logical and symmetrical.

We have a number of similarly styled houses in this area as well; it's one I've always loved.

I love seeing a river that flows by all that snow on it's banks. Very pretty photos!

I guess you wouldn't consider 'selling' the Red Cedar River either, would you? lol Have a good week my friend! Hugs!

that river is gorgeous. stunning in fact.. I love the first one with the barn and house in the corner.. the way you described the top floor is just how the house is inside on my post today, a wide hall, maybe 10 feet with rooms on both sides.

Judy, gorgeous photos, as always! If I ever make it to that area, I'd love to go inside one of those houses and check out that layout for myself. Sounds like something I'd like.

I love seeing all the wintry scenes you post Judy!! Here it is sunny but cold. And you are right about the Germans..they are very logical people. I am married to a 4th generation German!

Lovely winter views Judy . . .
I have liked the sun and blue sky here today!

It's nice to see flowing water with snow along the banks. In Ontario where I live, everything is frozen.
It sometimes takes me a few days to catch up on blog reading so it's understandable when someone else does too.

Beautiful river scenery!

Your description of the second story of the farmhouse took me back to my grandparents' home. A large squarish hallway with bedrooms on either side - yep, that describes it exactly! I loved it.

Beautiful river with the dark water and white snowbanks.
