Wisconsin Barns and Good Fences and a Happy Grandbaby

You might remember the  Wisconsin Barns post I put up a few weeks ago, the one with the pink barn? Well, pink is just the wrong color for a barn! But this barn north of Tilden is the most beautiful shade of green, and we pass the end of it every time we take Hwy 53 south to Eau Claire.

This time, instead of just passing by at a distance, we took [I think it was] CTH Q , in order to get a closer look. I am so glad we did! This barn is a beauty.  I love the cow pictures on the south side (above), the cupolas, and the two little stone additions, probably milk houses. I'm thinking that the one in the photo above is the original, with the other one being the newer milk house.

I believe that this is the east end of the barn. Maybe this is the newer milk house, for it would be closer to the road, easier access for the milk hauler. I suppose if I were willing to be really [intentionally] annoying, I could have knocked on the door and interviewed the owners. I don't like to do that. It's not that I don't like to talk to people. If they were in the grocery store and I couldn't find the Greek yogurt, I might actually ask whomever was nearby, then talk about the weather, grocery shopping, etc. But that's different. This seems more personal. Now if they had been standing outdoors, looking like they had nothing to do but answer silly questions from curious passersby, I would have felt more comfortable about asking them. But they weren't.

Aren't you glad we got that settled?

Wouldn't kids enjoy the top of that milk house as a playhouse? I sure would have. Even now!

This is what we usually see when we 'fly' by on Hwy 53. I snapped this while we were going 65 mph. Right. I wasn't driving.

This huge display of signs of local businesses and churches is on display where the road comes to a T after coming off the highway.

Doesn't the end of this barn look a little like Charlie Brown?

This barn is located NE of Rice Lake, WI. Definitely in the bleak mid-winter. Can't you feel the cold looking at that photo! It is cold. Miserably cold. We're all ready for winter to go away.

And now for a peek at
Grandson, who just turned 6 months old,
celebrating by
trying to get out of his clothes!

Happy Baby!
Photo sent to me by his mama. :-)

Wow, that milk house is almost ON the road! Both barns are gorgeous. It would be difficult to pick a favorite. I'm glad that you and Mr. Cranberry went out of your way to snap the photos of the green barn.

I would feel uncomfortable pulling into the yard and asking questions, too.

Love that sweet smile on your grandbaby. He's adorable.

What a cutie-pie smile on your grand baby. Too cute, and I laughed when I saw the shirt - some kids just have to be free of constrictions.
Love the barn roof and side room.
Have a great week!

That is a great barn!! I, too, like the "additions" and the stone foundation. And the painted cows. Okay...I guess I like everything you like. ;)

Charlie Brown...I didn't see it at first, but now I can't not see it!

Adorable, happy grandbaby!

Your title says it all for this Green Barn and Happy Baby post. I laughed at your explanation about interviewing the Green Barn owners. I would have probably given it a go with an opening line like 'Mornin, Ya'll, we just flat out don't have barns like this in Texas'. It's amazing how my Texas accent opens mouths and doors. That would have been a barn door to open, too. Great photos.

That Happy Baby must have been really warm and cozy to be shucking his shirt with the winter weather 'Ya'll' are having.

Your grandbaby is gorgeous!! Reminds me a bit of the Gerber baby. The first barn is the most beautiful barn I have ever seen!! I could easily kick all the animals out and live there myself. Would not change a thing, except the inside. I SEE Charlie Brown! I LOVE the way your mind works!

Your grandbaby must be a lot of joy. I really like everything about the green barn. I like how they would add side wings to a barn and put so much detail on the little shed like it too is a barn.

Rose said...

That grandson is adorable...he looks like he is sweet natured!

Oh, I LOVE that barn...love the stone foundation. Love everything about it. Can I come play in it with you?

I do love that last photo!! Your grandson is adorable! Great barn photos, and the green color is lovely and different! Yes, to the clubhouse above the milk house!

Oh goodness, cuteness award goes to your darling little grandson. How cute. Now what kind of award can we issue that delightful green shade of the coolest barn yet? I like that shade, and it's not a common one either. Great fun visiting you here this morning, thanks.

Love the barn pictures- I like how you tried to analyze the use of it! I agree it looks like a milkhouse- reminds me of my husband's parents farm a bit. I like seeing barns painted in different colors but admittedly I love red barns the most. That does look like Charlie Brown's face on the end! LOL... Your grandson is adorable- I'd want to be hugging and kissing him a lot!

Last winter I was driving with a friend and stopping to take pictures. We were puzzled by a crop; she grew up on a farm in upstate and didn't recognize it. She went into the field and pulled one and tasted one. Still no idea. The next day I had an email from her. She went back to that farm, knocked on the door and the farmer explained they were winter radish; he would till them under in the spring. You reminded me of that incident.

My heart melted when I saw your grandbaby! Looks like he may turn into a streaker like our youngest was... if you took your attention off him for a minute, his clothes went flying in every direction.

I am in love with that green barn and will be showing it to the Great Scot.

Mike@Bit About Britain said...

Certainly some impressive barns you have over there. The green looks almost like tarnished copper. Your grandson looks like a cheeky little chappie! You must be really proud. Hope it warms up soon for you.

It does look a little like Charlie Brown...just needs a rounder roof. The green barn is a very handsome one; someone paid attention to the details.

And your grandson is a very clever baby. He'll be out of those clothes in no time!

First things, first. That is one super cute babe. And I feel exactly as you do about approaching folks on their property. I would be distrustful of someone who knocked on my door to ask about my property. Too bad we feel that way, but it's the way it is these days. Thanks for sharing this green beauty!
